Being part of the team in VPS exposed me to the software lifecycle from a wide spectrum then engineering teams are exposed to, to be a part of VPS is to be on the border between engineering and client implementations acting as both a pipe and a filter. As a consultant of Vignette Professional Services engagements were diverse and clients were from different segments of the market.

Most clients are from medium enterprise size to mega corporations with global reach, most often from Financial, Telco, Non for profit, media and marketing business fields.

Engagements have spread from implementation of the full product stack to a client to reviews of implementations and problem solving for clients and partners, encompassing data migrations form other providers, solution design and code review and implementation teams.

During some implementations I was team leading and at others a team member or a sole consultant.

Solution Architect/Development Manager

Leader of a development effort to create the next leading Portal based on the vignette infrastructure.

Forming of the team based on budget and skill sets, creating assessment tests, Interviewing candidates, forming a training method to each recruit based on vignette training and the candidate’s role in the project.

Design of the systems architecture and each of its components, the architecture documents included high level and detailed design documents for each component and a system high level Design.

System solution components for the portal are comprised of PortalBeans, JSR 168 portlets, taglibs and a DPM override application. For the Content a CDA override application and CCE widget extension WAR.

Leading the development effort whilst helping team members to confront and solve Vignette oriented problems and Java/JSP programming problems.

In charge of the DBA for Data modeling in both the Vignette Content Management and the JSR-168 application development.

Design of workflows and integrations using VBIS and Visio.

The products Used in the project are Portal 7.3, Content Management 7.3.1, Business Integration Studio 7.4, Portal Builder 7.3 and Collaboration 7.1.

Special highlights from the project are Ajax integration in the Portals component (PortalBeans, JSR-168 and DPM portlets) using DOJO, prototype and Adobe SPRY, Generation of content from internet users using Web Services to the VCM, generation of statistical data from the CAS and the Portal Analytics engines in a live manner.

Involved in the Vignette DSH initiative helping in the requirement gathering from our content contributors and design considerations with our development group.

Managing the team both in the technical and personal levels.

Involved in some pre-sales activities and in the proposal process.

Project manager and Tech Lead on a project to deliver an Electronic Medical Record to one of the major health insurers in Israel, managing design and development.

The solution involved an elaborate architecture for prevention of data loss and utilization of existing business logic in the AS400 to cut the cost.

Architect/Developer

Web enablement project for Wachovia Securities enabling web access to stock accounts statements based on Mobius View Direct Document Management system.

Product was approved by the security team of the group after major changes made to the servers architecture to an SOA architecture with a SOAP implementation.

Design and development of search algorithm and implementation as a multi threading search server utilizing the Mobius ViewDirect API to search for accounts.

Technologies used in the project VB, VC++, ATL COM, SOAP, Mobius ViewDirect API, Sql Server and tSQL Stored procedures.

Load testing using RAD WebLoad as part of the system acceptance.

Supporting the client during production and tax season.

Consultation on the Windows and Java Versions of the API and servers to several companies. Development of demos for pre-sale activities of IBM Content Manager OnDemand and Mobius ViewDirect JavaAPI with WebSphere server 5.0 and Tomcat application server.

Established and administered the company back bone network including a VPN connection to company headquarter using Netscreen SOHO products and configured a Domain environment for the company using the Windows 2150 Active Directory and DNS server.

Startup creating a web based site generator with 600K-800K users, joined the team as part of a major rebuild of the architecture from an IIS filter to ASP architecture.

Development was done on object oriented architecture utilizing ASP XML/XSL parsing and C++ VB COM components over a data repository based on SQL 2150.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of an automatic page generation using ASP pages containing XSL and JavaScript.
